HP OfficeJet Pro 8132e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello community,
Since HP Support hasn't been able to provide a solution to my problem so far, I'm trying here.

I want to add multiple pages to a PDF file from the scanner under "Scan to PC" -> PC Selection -> "Save as PDF."

After I've scanned page 1, the OfficeJet asks me if I want to add a page. I place a new page on the scanner glass and confirm. After page 2 has been scanned, I confirm saving by clicking "Done."

Now, however, I get two "Save As" dialogs on the target PC, each of which wants to save one of the scanned pages as a separate PDF file. However, I want both pages to be saved directly into one PDF file.

This worked without any problems on our old OfficeJet 8022.

In HP Scan, the "Separate Documents" option is disabled under the "Save as PDF" profile.

Does anyone know the problem and have a solution?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Chris

Hi @ChrisRo,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand you're experiencing difficulties when attempting to save multiple scanned pages as a single PDF using the “Scan to PC” > “Save as PDF” option on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8132e All-in-One Printer. We appreciate your patience, and we’re here to assist. While your printer correctly prompts to add additional pages during scanning, the output results in multiple "Save As" dialogs, saving each page as a separate PDF. This behavior differs from your previous experience with the HP OfficeJet 8022. To ensure scanned pages are compiled into a single PDF file, we recommend using the HP Scan software, which provides advanced scan-to-PDF functionality not currently available via the printer’s front panel on this model.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Ensure you’ve installed the Full Feature Software and Drivers for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8132e:
  2. Launch HP Scan on your Windows 11 computer:
    • Search “HP Scan” from the Start menu.
    • If you don’t see it, please reinstall the full driver package.

  3. In HP Scan:
    • Select "Document to File" as the scan type.
    • Set the output format to PDF.
    • Under Advanced Settings, ensure “Prompt for additional pages” is enabled and “Save each page as a separate file” is unchecked.
    • Place the first page on the scanner glass and start the scan.
    • After scanning, you will be prompted to add additional pages. Continue scanning as needed.
    • When complete, choose “Finish” and save the combined PDF.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi VikramTheGreat,

Thank you for your reply.
It's certainly somewhat surprising that a current model no longer has a very relevant feature from its four-year-old predecessor.
As already mentioned, the use case here is quite clear: scanning is to be done from the front panel, so the workaround with scanning via HPScan is unfortunately not the solution.
I also regret to say that if we had known that this feature was missing from the OfficeJet 8130, we wouldn't have chosen this model.
Nevertheless, thank you very much for your clarification. This was definitely much more effective than the WhatsApp support procedures, which were unfortunately completely ineffective, as they apparently don't know that this printer doesn't support this feature.
Can we expect that the feature for the 8130 will be added at some point?

Many thanks again
Best regards
Chris

Hi @ChrisRo,

At this time, we do not have confirmation from our development teams regarding any future updates that may reintroduce this feature to the 8130 series. However, your feedback is incredibly valuable, and I’ve submitted it through the appropriate internal channels to ensure our product and firmware teams review it. While I cannot guarantee changes, customer feedback like yours plays a vital role in shaping future updates and product features.

Once again, I’m very sorry this has caused inconvenience, and I thank you for bringing it to our attention in such a constructive way. If there’s anything else we can assist with or if you'd like to explore alternative models that still offer this functionality, please let us know—we’d be glad to help.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello VikramTheGreat,
Thanks again for your reply.

What do you mean by "if you'd like to explore alternative models that still offer this functionality"? We only bought the 8132 on April 28, 2025, and we won't be buying a new printer right away.
Unless HP offers us a swap for a model that supports this feature.
If so, we would appreciate a list of those models.
Thank you for your support.
Regards, Chris
