HP OfficeJet Pro 6978
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I just set up the All-in-one printer/scanner, using manual method on the printer. It prints but does not scan. It says"No Computer Found" when I try to scan. I read another report relating to this problem which directed the user to go to HP File in Applications. No such file shows up on my computer. There does not seem to be any printer software showing up in Applications.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Performing a power cycle and then selecting the correct scanner on HP Easy Scan may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps

Step 1: Download HP Easy Scan app (in English) from the App Store

Step 2: Perform a power cycle

1.) Turn off your Mac, Printer and Router.

2.) Unplug the power from the back of router, wait for 10 -15 seconds.

3.) Connect the power cable back to router, turn on the router first. Wait till the router to initialize.

4.) Turn on Printer and Mac.

5.) Open HP Easy Scan.

6.) Click "Scanner:" and select Browse Scanners...

7.) Select the listed HP Officejet 6978.

8.) Try to Scan.
