I am struggling with scanning a document in DPI 600 greyscale. There is no option in the software to change the DPI setting only the resolution to PPI which is not the same thing. I have tried scanning in grey with PPI 600 resolution but need the document which is a single piece of paper to be under 1MB in size. With these settings I cannot get under 2.5MB even if I save as a PDF or JPEG. I need thesesettings for an online application otherwise I cannot upload the file.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Support Community.
Is your printer the HP Envy photo 6200?
If you need a 600 ppi and a small filesize, use the iHQC in the HP Scan.
These examples show you how to set to 600 ppi and save a PDF file wit a small filesize.

Note that you may not need 600ppi scans. 300 ppi is more than sufficient for most uses.
Moreover scanning in 600 ppi takes time and resources on the computer and some computer configurations cannot handle resulting in hangs and crashes.
Hope that helps!

Hi @Goshi1
The printer scan software specs in PPI.
PPI describes the resolution in pixels of a digital image, which in this case is a scanned imaged.
If you want a good (DPI) output, just print in "Best" mode and set the print to Grayscale.
Print resolution (best) | Up to 1200 x 1200 rendered dpi (when printing from a computer) |
