I have just upgraded to Windows 10 and now I am unable to scan from the printer to the computer. I can scan the other way ie. from Computer to scanner but that is not as convenient. I didn't have the issue before the upgrade. The error message that I am getting is
"The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues:
- Connection to the computer is lost.
- The scan application on the computer is currently in use.
- OCR application is not installed on the computer.
See the computer monitor for details."
Firstly it is plugged in, with a usb cable, so no logical reason why the connection is lost.
Secondly it is not in use as I am trying to use it 🙂
Third one has me baffled as there is no reason why the OCR application is now missing, it worked before windows 10.
and lastly there are no details on the computer monitor, why it tells me that is beyond me.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello again,
Seems like the next option is to uninstall & re-install the printer software. This will ensure that the Manage scan to computer option is reinstated.
Please find the link below to install your printer software.
Note: Esnure that the operating system selected is win10.
If your are facing any difficulties with uninstallation or installation, Please contact HP tech support at 1-800-474-6836.

Ashish

Hello Caffryn,
Welcome to HP Support Forum.
Seems like post upgrade to Win10 the scan to computer is disabled.
Step 1: Double click on the printer icon on your Desktop (Printer Assistance page open's up)
Note: If you do not have the printer icon on your desktop, Please open devices & printers under control panel & double click on the printer icon.
Step 2: Under Scan options. Select 'Manage Scan to Computer'.
Step 3: It might shows enabled, Disable it & Enable it again.
Step 4: Power down your printer using the power button & power up.
Please check if the above steps help.
Regards,
Ashish

Hello Ashish
I opened up the HP Printer Assistant but there are no scan options available. The only icon under the Scan section is the one that opens the scan dialog to perform an actual scan. As I mentioned, I am able to scan from the computer to the scanner. I opened devices & printers from the control panel and right clicked on the printer icon and then opened scan properties, thinking the option may have been there, but it did not appear there either. My conclusion, at this stage, is that maybe my HP Printer Assistant is corrupt because it seems to be missing options.
Thank you very much for your help
Kind Regards
Caffryn

Thank you Ashish
Works perfectly now. The uninstalling and reinstalling did the trick I now have the scan to computer option reinstated. I actually did it from the original cd which also picked up the latest drivers when checking online. I wasn't thinking straight I should have done this to start with, I guess when windows 10 upgraded it created a glitch in the system. Thank you for your help it was very much appreciated.
Kind Regards
