HP OfficeJet Pro 9022e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi HP community, I need some help with my 9022e Officejet printer.

I have issues when i scan an object that i put on the scan tray. I can scan the object and send it as a jpeg to my pc and even open it on my pc, no problemos! Then what is the issue??

Well, the thing is that i love 3d printing and cnc in general, and for that i use the

734d0073-1fe6-472e-aaad-4dfd85bd881f.pngprinters scanner to scan flat 2d objects, so i can then put them into "Fusion 360" as a "canvas". After having scanned 3 drone frames and even reverse engineered them in "Fusion 360", I noticed that the scans (jpeg) were consistently "skew" and that i ran into the same issue when calibrating the scan in "Fusion 360"(Trouble with rectangles).  So maybe it's cuz' all the frames are cheap products?

Then to test the issue, i then decided to scan a precisely cnc machined metal rectangular plate and a Hultafors 90degree angle, and guess what! The Scans put into fusion360 were skew, very skew. Angles supposed to be right was maybe 1 degree, which easily becomes a few millimeters over length.

Does anybody else have this issue, and does anybody perhaps have a fix for it??

PS: i noticed that the rollers are very misaligned, and at a angle that corresponds to the skewness in the scans, but I'm for sure TOO ignorant when it comes to this subject, to be able to say if that is the issue or if it's software related.

Best regards DRONEGUY6969😀

Hi @droneguy6969,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing skewed scans on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9022e could indeed be related to the misaligned rollers, as you have observed.

Here's a step-by-step approach to diagnose and potentially fix the problem:

Step 1: Check for Roller Alignment

  1. Turn off the Printer: Unplug the printer from the power source.
  2. Access the Rollers: Open the scanner lid and locate the rollers.
  3. Inspect the Rollers: Check if the rollers are visibly misaligned or worn out. If they are, this could be causing the skew in your scans.
  4. Realign or Replace Rollers: If the rollers are misaligned, try to gently realign them. If they appear worn out, consider replacing them. You can refer to the printer’s manual for specific instructions on roller maintenance.

Step 2: Clean the Scanner Bed

  1. Turn off the Printer: Unplug the printer from the power source.
  2. Clean the Glass: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean the scanner glass. Make sure there are no smudges or debris on the glass that could affect the scan quality.
  3. Dry the Glass: Use a dry, lint-free cloth to ensure the glass is completely dry before use.

Step 3: Calibrate the Scanner

  1. Turn on the Printer: Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  2. Access HP Utility: Open the HP Utility software on your computer.
  3. Scanner Maintenance: Look for an option related to scanner calibration or maintenance and follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate the scanner.

Step 4: Adjust Scanner Settings

  1. Open Scanner Software: Use the HP Smart app or any other scanning software provided by HP.
  2. Check Scan Settings: Ensure that the settings are correct for the type of scan you are performing. Pay attention to resolution and any alignment options available.
  3. Perform a Test Scan: Scan a document or object with known dimensions and check if the skew persists.

Step 5: Update Firmware and Software Update the firmware on an HP printer

  1. Check for Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Go to the HP support website and download any available updates for your model.
  2. Update Software: Ensure that your scanning software and drivers are also up to date.

Step 6: Use a Different Scanning Software

  1. Alternative Software: Sometimes, using different scanning software can help address issues. Try scanning using a different program like Windows Fax and Scan or a third-party scanning application.
  2. Check Results: Compare the results to see if the skew is reduced or eliminated.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
