How do I scan to my Mac computer wirelessly from a HP Office Jet 4655?  Surely there are simple steps to follow to get this set up? Not sure why I'm not finding clear instructions on line?

Hi @Alyeska26

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you'd like to scan wirelessly from your HP OfficeJet 4655 to your Mac, and I apologize for the difficulty in finding clear instructions online. Once both your printer and Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, setting up wireless scanning is simple. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Verify the printer is connected to Wi-Fi

  • On the printer, ensure the Wireless light is solid blue (not blinking).
  • Make sure your Mac is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.{2.4GHz}

Add the printer to your Mac

  • On your Mac, open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
  • Go to Printers & Scanners.
  • If your OfficeJet 4655 is not listed, click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax (+).
  • Select HP OfficeJet 4655 and click Add.

Scan using one of these methods

HP App

  • Install and open HP App https://www.hp.com/us-en/hp-app/overview.html .
  • Add your printer if prompted.
  • Click Scan.
  • Place your document on the scanner glass or in the document feeder.
  • Adjust the scan settings and click Scan.
  • Save the scanned file to your preferred location.

Apple Image Capture (Built into macOS)

  • Open Applications > Image Capture.
  • Select HP OfficeJet 4655 from the Devices list.
  • Click Show Details if needed.
  • Choose your scan settings and destination folder.
  • Click Scan. This method works well without installing additional HP software.

If the printer prints but won't scan

  • Open Applications > HP > HP Utility.
  • Select your HP OfficeJet 4655.
  • Click All Settings.
  • Select Scan to Computer.
  • Check Enable Scan to Computer if it is not already enabled.

Take care and have an amazing day!
