Great to see it did the trick for you too @Nasto and thanks for the feedback, I have clarified the instructions about launching the HP Scan Extended program or creating a shortcut.

Hi ShlomiL,

I followed the instructions in this thread and downloaded HP Scan Extended.  I opened from the Windows start menu. When I attempted to scan to email - I get the following error message: 

My printer is a MFP M426fdw, connected directly to network. I use the desktop version of Outlook Microsoft 365. I have not been able to scan to email since I updated my desktop to Win10 Pro back in January. All Windows updates are installed, as well as HP updates.  I am able to attach a pdf to a new email directly from a Word document.

Any further instructions you could provide to get this working for me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Please create a text file on your desktop with any content.

Right-click this file and select Send Te > Mail Recipient.

What exact response occurs?

This triggers a new mail dialog as the HP Scan software triggers.

Does it launch a new Message dialog of Outlook with the file attached as expected to be done by Outlook? (Regardless of the HP Scan software usage)

Nothing happens when I right click the file and select Send To > Mail Recipient. It does not launch a new message dialog of Outlook.

So that means there is a problem with MS Office or Windows, which does not allow the original task, therefore the HP Scan fails to launch it too.

For my experience, repairing Microsoft Office should likely resolve such an issue for Outlook so please give it a try.

If that doesn’t make any difference and Outlook still doesn’t launch by this action, please contact Microsoft.

Once the Outlook problem will resolve and the Send To option will work, HP Scan will be able to launch it too.
