Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended
Officejet Pro 8720
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

when scanning using HP Smart and the Officejet Pro 8720 document feeder, the scanner takes multiple (10-20) scans of random pages before calling the next page from the document feeder.  This is a new problem.  Worked flawlessly in the past.

The document feeder can still feed documents for copying without any problem.  It's the scanner and not the document feeder that's the problem.

Lately, the software just cancels the scan after making multiple scans of the first few pages.

Hi Steveweinberg,

We already feedback this to HP Smart team. For the time being, you may try scanning using the Mac itself and let me know the outcome.

After following the instructions to use the Printer/Scanner option on System Preferences on my Mac, and selecting my Officejet Pro 8729, and selecting Scan and then Open Scanner - the software failed to connect with the scanner.  Both are on the same wifi network and are right next to each other.  Does the HP Printer-Scanner need to be hard wired to the computer for it to work>  I have no other ideas.2021-5-6 Mac failed to open a connection to the HP 8720 scanner.png

Resorted to scanning one page of the document at a time on the document feeder, then selecting "add" to run the next page through.  This was working fine until I suddenly began getting the attached message.  Now can't even do it that way.  I opened ad closed the feeder - not problem with any stuck material or anything.  I can still use the Document feeder to copy a multipage docent.

Next I'll try loading each page on the flatbed and adding each new page.  Stay tuned.  2021-5-6 Document feeder issue using doc feeder 1 pare at a time.png

Shlomi/, thanks for the response.  I've been assuming that since this problem occurred after upgr4ading my MacOS to Big Sur 14.5, it had something to do with the need for HP to also tweak their scanner software for the 8720 to continue working with my Mac.  Of course there are probably 10,000 other HP Products that work with Mac that also need  software update.

I was excited to tru HP Easy Scan - the former application I used to scan till HP pushed my into using HP Smart.  But like the option of using Mac software, my Mac and my 8720 do not seem to be speaking to each other in the scan world.  Printing and copying work fine.

How long should I expect to wait for an update to my HP 8720 printer driver that will make scanning work again?

My faith in HP is restored.  Working as before - perfectly.  Thank you for the heads up.  Surprised I did not hear directly from HP that the scanning software driver was updated.  And shocked to see within the App, itself, there is no option to check to see if an update is available.  Still room for improvement, I guess.
