I have the OfficeJet Pro  9120e and was wondering why I cannot scan directly to my computer without having to use the app or other methods. I picked straight to computer and it makes me use the app which makes it a lot more difficult.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e doesn't support the Scan to PC feature that allows users to scan directly from the printer's screen to their PC.

@Valsimot is correct -- Scan to Computer is not listed as a feature.

 

Perhaps...

If you are willing to do the work to set up the options,

According to the documentation,

The printer supports Digital Send methods as described in the specifications.

 

If the documentation is correct, there is a possible solution that might work for you.

 

Digital Sending Standard FeaturesScan-to E-mail; Scan to network folder; scan to SharePoint; Scan to thumb drive

 

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Set up Scan > Scan to Network Folder job defaults

and

Create / Set up Quick Sets > "Network Folder" -

You must select / set a reachable folder location.

The destination folder might be located on your computer, perhaps in a connected OneDrive account, or even on a mapped NAS machine on your network.

 

-- Alternate Format EWS – Select Newer Printers and select LaserJet Printers --

 

Open your Browser

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Scan > Scan to Network Folder > Default Job Options

 

Open your Browser

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Quick Sets > Select one of -- Add / Edit / Copy / Delete  > Quick Set Profile

Complete the steps to create / update the Profile
