Help!!
My scans are missing from the HP Smart app after scanning to my MacBook. Yesterday, I had 100 documents scanned in and they were there and I was going to save them to my desktop and they are missing now! Ugh!!

@WhitneyHW, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your scans missing from HP Smart!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I totally get how frustrating this must be—scanning 100 documents and then not being able to find them is definitely not ideal! No worries, though. Let’s try a few steps to see if we can recover them.
- Check the HP Smart App History – Open the HP Smart app and see if your scans are still listed under “Scan” > “Recent Scans.” Sometimes, they might just not be visible right away.
- Look in the Default Save Location – By default, HP Smart might save scans to the Documents folder or a custom folder. Try checking Finder > Documents > HP Smart or use Spotlight Search (Cmd + Space and type part of the filename).
- Check Temporary Files – If the app was closed before saving, macOS might have stored them in temporary files. You can check ~/Library/Application Support/HP Smart (press Cmd + Shift + G in Finder and paste that path).
- Restart HP Smart & Your Mac – Sometimes a simple restart refreshes everything and brings back missing files.
- Re-scan History on Printer – If your printer has a built-in scan history, you might be able to retrieve and re-send the scans.
If you still can’t find them, let me know which HP printer model you’re using, and we’ll dig a little deeper to get those documents back.
Hope this helps! Looking forward to your update. 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
