First, truly love this printer and the quality of print and features.

But, can't help think some features are not available to us Mac users, in this case, scanning to searchable PDF. Nowhere can I find output to searchable PDF yet it is available for Windows. Have fellow Mac users found a solution for creating such a useful PDF?

Can anyone tell me what this flap on the ADF is for? I thought it an extension to hold legal sized doc but, a you can see, it opens the "wrong" way. 😉

Thanks

Welcome to the HP User Community.

If OCR is included, it is likely in the full solution software.

Yes, In so much that I am aware --  Windows apparently still provides the single-license OCR IRIS software in the full driver printer software.

Sorry I don't speak MacOS -- I cannot check whether OCR is embedded in the installation package for the software.

I believe this the the method used to install the full software in your MacOS

HP Easy Start would be the source to install the HP essential Software to enable Scan to Computer:

Please follow below version of HP Easy Start, as soon as it launches open the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software.

Follow the steps on screen and then click on Set Up New Device and follow the steps to reinstall the printer:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

As soon as HP Easy start prompts to install HP Smart, close HP Easy Start and press the Skip to Software Download button, then follow the steps on screen to complete the installation and check for any difference.

Flap Bits

The odd flap is perhaps to allow you to handle and load smaller paper into the ADF.

Is the flap to enable you to retrieve a document that just went through the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)?

Does the paper slip underneath it after scanning?

Yes, of course.

Removing small paper - not loading paper.

A poor choice of wording and a silly backwards description.

Smiling.
