Second Printer. Document Feeder not scanning

Problem 1. The document feeder on top does not work. I got a brand new one and most of the time it does not even recognize there s paper in the slot (make the ding noise). Absolutely frustrating.

Problem 2. The app screen on the printer no longer shows a scan to email function. It just shows scan to > computer. I used to be able to send it directly to email and manage it directly with a tablet.

thank you in addition to my problem I was told i was given a extra year of warrantee support due to an initial problem with the toner printing blobs on the page. However the site says my warrantee is up,  My problem is the automatic feeder doesn't work.
