Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I’ve had an HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 printer for a couple years and am now trying to set up my scanner. Using SMTP.**bleep**.com as my server and 192.168.0.61, my computer wouldn’t allow me to access (I use DuckDuckGo as my browser). So on another computer, I was able to type in the 192.168.0.61 into a browser and actually got to the Embedded Web Server “Scan to Email setup” and got as far as Step 4: Summary. I tried to set up both my **bleep** account, and my husband’s comcast account. However, no matter how many times I’ve validated my information, I get an error message that says either; Server credentials are incorrect, or, SMTP email server error. The server ight be down or busy. Try again later.

On the actual printer scanner, I’m able to enter an email address and preview the document I want to scan, but I get an error message; Cannot connect to server. Check server name and address.

Why can’t I get this to work when all my information seems to be correct? Thank you for your input.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Somewhere in my archived notes I would guess I have the steps saved as separate images.

So, step 4 is a mystery for the moment.

?

Doesn't matter, I think...

I suspect you are running into a restriction in your Email provider's security.

===============================================

What?

Answer > Short version

Log into your email provider' website, go to security, enable 2-step verification, create an App Password

After you create the App Password, make note of the content.

When setting up the Profile for your email address in EWS, use the App Password instead of your regular email password.

Longer Version of the Answer

Email Account Security

"Scan to Email", “Scan to Network”, "HP Scan > Email" and "Share" are subject to your Email Account provider's security that governs how your email account interacts with "third party software / apps".

For example, Google (G-Mail) and other email providers, including (and not limited to) Apple, Microsoft, and Yahoo, might require that you enable 2-Step Verification AND create and use an App Password to interact with the printer software, printer applications, or any program that requires that software to access your email account.

Where the email provider's security requires it, the App Password is used in place of your normal email / account password in "third party" apps and software.
