I just bought an HP OfficePro Jet 9018. I can print and scan by using HP Smart on the PC, but would like to control it from the printer touchpad. I cannot find any documentation that says how to do so. When I attempt to do so I get a message on the touchpad to go to 123.hp.com/setup and download the software to my PC, select "Print, Scan & Fax" > Scan> Manage Scan to Computer. There is no such selection on HP Smart. Help please.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Support Community. Scan to computer requires the HP FULL software.
Can you download and install the FULL featured printer software from HP for your operating system:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-9010-all-in-one-printer-...
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
How to Scan to Computer
Once you have installed the software:
1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

I wish I could say this solved my problem. Unfortunately, it did not. I downloaded and installed the software, as described. However, things didn't go quite as described. Rather than installing any new software, this ended up sending me to the Microsoft store to get HP Smart. Of course, it was already installed, so the application was simply re-started. NO printer icon is on my desktop. I don't know if this product has changed at HP (since you are an employee, it seems unlikely), or if the version of Windows I'm running is significantly different. I am running Windows 10 Home, Version 20H2, 64 bit. OS build 19042.928 Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

Hi @gardengumby
Try check out this resource, it's for Officejet Pro 8025 but it may be relevant. It's a bit tricky to get the HP FULL software: "miss a step and it'll lead you back to HP Smart".

Here's the software link again:
Hope that helps!
