I have had my printer for a few months now with no issues with copying at all. I went to copy a page today and noticed a single black line across the top of my page (see photos below). I tried to align the printer, as you can tell by the first copied page, but this did nothing. I ran sample pages through both the document feeder and on the flatbed scanner with the same results each time. I ran the copy function with the top open to see and it is almost as if the scanner part of the printer is starting 1/4" too soon. I have read alot about making sure the glass is clean but I don't know that my issue matches the scinarios described in the other forum posts.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.
I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer. I read that a single black line along the edge of scanned/copied pages as shown in the images. Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.
To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Is the printing fine?
I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
NOTE: Please skip any steps that you have already performed.
- Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
- Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
- Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
- The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
- Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.
Please review the steps from this HP article to fix scan and copy quality issues.
If the issue still persists after performing all of the above steps then please update the firmware of your printer via this HP link.
Hope this helps. Keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂
