I am trying to edit the Name: field in the Smart Mobile Fax Sender Profile Field but it will not allow me. Further more it only shows my first name in that field as default. How do I make that field editable or it populate my full name?

Hi @Natonorad,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Smart Mobile Fax sender name issue. Let’s go through a few steps to explain why the field is not editable and how to make sure your full name appears.

Understand how the Fax Sender Name is set
The Name field in HP Smart Mobile Fax is automatically pulled from your HP account profile.
This field is locked in the app and cannot be edited directly from the fax screen.

Check your HP account profile details
Sign in to your HP account using a web browser (not the HP Smart app).
Verify whether only your first name is entered under your profile information.

Update your full name in the HP account
Edit the profile name to include your full name and save the changes.
The Mobile Fax sender name uses this account-level information.

Sign out and back into the HP Smart app
After updating your profile, sign out of the HP Smart app on your mobile device.
Sign back in to allow the app to refresh and sync the updated name.

Allow time for synchronization
In some cases, it may take a short while for changes to reflect in the Mobile Fax feature.
Restarting the app or the device can help force the refresh.

I hope this helps.

I followed your instructions but the mobile fax application continues to omit my last name. Please submit this as an official bug report. If I edit my first name, that name changes in mobile fax but it drops the last name off. Either HP makes the field editable again or they need to use full names to populate header info, because its currently defeating the purpose for the change in the first place!

Additionally, when I sign in I get this message: “We found more than one HP account in our system. Which one do you want to use?” With the options: 1.) my email address, and 2.) “Local account”. By the way, changing my names in BOTH of those has no effect on the mobile fax, other than changing my first name. My last name still does not appear in the header.

So, as this appears to be a proper software bug, please submit it as such so it can be patched properly in an update that gets pushed out, hopefully in the near future.

Thank you for your assistance and attention to this matter.

Best regards,

Your reply did not help at all. My last name was still missing from the cover page of the fax. I have to send a fax to the US government, and my last name must be on the fax. This wasn't a feature before. Why did HP decide to do this? I can't even allow my neighbor to fax off some documents she needs. Please remove this feature. It has caused nothing but trouble.
