I just transferred to a new computer and cannot get the Solution Center to install so I can scan. I could not find a download and when I try and install from the CD it either tells me to login as Administrator (there is none), or if I try it in SafeMode it tells me that there is a Spooler problem.
Any suggestions? Any other software that will allow me to scan on this printer?

We keep hearing that the older printers that used to support the Full Feature Software no longer do so in the latest Versions of Windows 10.
IF your printer is the HP Officejet 7210, this may be the case for your printer.
Give the Full Feature Software a try...
Download and install the following Full Feature Software to use the Officejet 7210:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL30951/mp-110165-3/AIO_CDB_Net_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe
Restart the computer after the software is installed...
If the full feature software does not install or if the software does not work as hoped, use the Add a Printer procedure to look for and install Windows drivers for the printer. Assuming THIS works, you may at least have limited print function.
- NOTE: The “Full Feature Software” solution for older printers may not work in Windows 10 Fall Creators – Please use Windows Update to install your printer: HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
Example – Add a Printer
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer
Click The printer that I want isn’t listed
Click Add a Local or Network Printer…
Click Next
Choose a Printer Port window:
Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1: (Printer Port)
[ NOTE for USB: Look for USB001 or other USB00# > Select the highest Port listed ]
Install the Printer window:
Left column: HP
Right column: Scroll, search, select (click) printer
And / or if your Printer is not found in list:
Click Windows Updates
Wait several minutes for list to update
Left column: HP
Right column: Scroll, search, select printer
Choose a Printer Port window:
Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1: (Printer Port)
[ NOTE for USB: Look for USB001 or other USB00# > Select the highest Port listed ]
Click Yes to “…allow this app to make changes to your device” (UAC)
Optional: Type a printer Name or use the default
Next > Wait for printer software to install …
Next >
Click Share this printer so that others on your network can find and use it
Optional: Fill in information for printer location and a comment
Optional: Click Set as the default printer
Optional: Click to Print a test page > Finish
Click Thumbs Up on a post to say Thank You!

Thanks. I have another issue I wonder if you can help with? I also have a LaserJet 1320 PCL 5.
When I installed this LaserJet to my new computer, I somehow lost the double-sided printing option. It says it has the latest driver (Driver Date: 06/21/2006 Driver Version: 10.0.16299.15).
Any idea how this disappeared, and how I might get it back?
Thanks!

It turns out (that at least lately), my "laser printer" skill set is somewhat lacking. Rats.
I would GUESS that the issue has something to do with the fact that the driver is really old and the printer is, well, older.
I will give you a couple of the more obvious places to look:
Duplex feature installed? (Model Dependent)
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >
Right-Click Printer > Printer Properties > tab Device Settings >
Under Installable Options > Automatic Duplexing Unit > Select / Verify Installed > OK
Tray installed?
Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >
Right-Click Printer > Printer Properties > tab Device Settings >
Under Installable Options > Tray # > Select Installed > OK

Includre the exact Printer model , the OS, and give the new post a short descriptive subject line.
Explain the problem and say what you have tried in an effort to fix the problem.
I promise to stay away. Smiling.
