HP LJ M1536 MFP
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Scanning was working fine until today. I get: "The HP LJ M1530 MFP Series Scan was not found." when opening shortcut on desktop.

Printing is ok. Computer is connected via eternet cable (no option to try usb)

I tried uninstalling and installing drivers 15.0.15188.928 with no luck.

Windows fax and scan also do not see this scanner. Paint also. Services WIA and printer spooler are running in services.msc

Tried to disable firewall.
Other computers can scan with this scanner.

I cannot try apps from windows store as suggested here (but everything else did not worked):

Any ideas?

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums After reading your post I see that you you are unable to scan. I will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. 🙂  Kudos to you on that score.:)

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

Go you do any changes to the printer?

Meanwhile

The issue could have been caused by the security settings changed on the user profile.

You may either create a new user, login with the new user profile to install the printer or Turn off the UAC from the control panel and Restart the PC.

Here are the steps to configure UAC settings:

Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings.

  • To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.

if you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

Hi,

I will try but i think UAC will be domain controlled, how to force local GPO to override domain GPO and UAC control settings?

Thank you for your reply.

As @sandytechy20 is out of the office today, I'm replying to you.

I understand  that the issue remains unresolved. Therefore, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate and fix the issue:

Let us uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • You may click here to download and install the drivers.

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know how it goes.

Good luck! 🙂
