Hello everyone,

I use the following printer/scanner: hp laserjet pro m283fdw

The printer and HPScan application have not had any kind of problem for about two months; suddenly I wanted to scan documents and this error appears:
"""the hp LJ m282m285 was not found""".

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver but nothing; I also tried to delete the registry keys nothing only the printer works but not the scanner.

First of all, first question: why did something like this happen? There has been no update.

How can I fix it?

 

The printer, I repeat, is new, only two months old.

If you're encountering the error "the HP LJ M282M285 was not found" while trying to use the scanner on your HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw, here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

 

Check USB/Network Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your network (if using Wi-Fi) or directly to your computer (if using USB).
  • If using Wi-Fi, make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Print a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to verify connectivity.

Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
  • Restart your computer as well to refresh the connection.

Update or Reinstall HP Software:

  • Download the latest version of the HP Smart app or the full feature software from the HP support website.
  • Uninstall the existing HP software completely, including any drivers and applications.
  • Reinstall the latest version of the software to ensure compatibility.

Enable Windows Scanning Feature:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP LaserJet Pro M283fdw and click on Manage.
  • Click on Printer properties and then go to the Ports tab. Ensure that the correct port is selected for your printer.
  • Check the Device Manager to see if the scanner is listed under "Imaging devices." If not, there might be an issue with the driver.

Check Firewall and Security Software:
