Hi @ArunNair1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message "The operation failed. Please verify your configuration and try again" during scanning on your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw can be caused by a variety of issues, including configuration problems, driver issues, or network problems. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Verify Printer and Scanner Setup

  • Ensure that the USB cable connecting the printer to your computer is securely plugged in.
  • If you’re using a network connection, verify that both the printer and the computer are connected to the same network.
  • Turn off the printer and your computer. Wait a few seconds, then power them back on.

2. Update or Reinstall Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw.
  • Download and install the latest drivers and software for your operating system.
  • Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer.
  • Reinstall the drivers you downloaded from the HP website.

3. Check Scanner Settings

  • Use the HP Smart app or the HP Scan software on your computer.
  • Ensure that the correct scanner is selected in the software settings.
  • Check for any configuration settings related to the scan operation.
  • Use the HP software to run diagnostic tests on the scanner to identify any issues.

4. Verify Scan Settings

  • Open the scanning software or HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Ensure that the scan settings are configured correctly (e.g., correct file format, resolution).

5. Check for Software Conflicts

  • Ensure that your operating system is up to date.
  • Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can interfere with scanning. Temporarily disable them and try scanning again.

6. Perform Printer and Scanner Maintenance

  • Open the scanner lid and clean the scanner glass with a lint-free cloth.
  • Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer.

7. Reset Printer Settings

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Reset Network Settings (If Applicable):

  • If using a network connection, reset the network settings on the printer and reconnect it to your network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
