Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Thanks to both Shlomil and Dragon-fur

A key issue for me is the point about HP Scan application only supporting 100% DPI and not supporting scaling or resizing. I frequently use all three, so HP Scan will not help.

Maybe one day I'll try HP Smart, although I'm still baffled why HP does not provide the software itself.  Especially as it forces us to register the printer with it.

Thanks for the idea of "Let windows try to fix apps so they are not blurry", I had not thought it applied - nothing in my laptop is blurry. But in any case, Microsoft's wording "blurry" is so purile and vague that I ignored it. (Why do they dumb down their wording and talk down to their customers so, and not say specifically what it does?)

Anyway, I investigated what it does (useful info at https://superuser.com/questions/1534995/windows-setting-fix-scaling-for-apps-what-does-it-do ).  I did not see any difference when I changed the setting.  It is not the text that's blurry - it is the size of the HP scan window.

It still looks like there is no solution to make the scan window of the HP software that comes with the printer work sensibly on a small laptop.

Well, the HP Scan supports 100% DPI only, that is how the software is designed and expected to work.

Indeed, nothing in my PC is blurry too, but you may clearly see the difference from the pictures attached in my previous post, with the exact same problem with a higher DPI setting.

Try logging off and back on after enabling this setting and see if that may make any difference.

Also, try browsing to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 series\bin

Right-click HPScan.exe and select Properties.

Within the Compatibility tab click on Change High DPI settings and play with its settings, see if any specific setting may provide a better display for you.

Keep in mind that this relies on other display settings of your computer, so there is no specific setting to change, play around in this area and check if it may provide you a better display.
