Hello, I wonder if you could help me. I am trying to scan a document using an HP Deskjet 1512.
I have tried accessing the HP Deskjet icon, via Start Button, then it takes me into All Programes, then I access the HP icon, it states HP Deskjet 1510 series. I noted it didn't actually say 1512 series.
Anyway, once I clicked onto HP Deskjet 1510 series, underneath that it highlighted HP Product Improvement Study. It does not highlight the HP Scan facility.
In the past, I used to have an older version of an HP Printer and never had any problems. Once you highlighted the HP icon, it would give you the option to scan etc.
For some reason, this model does not seem to give me this option straight away. I would appreciate any help with this.
Thanking you.

Hi Gemini2
I would like to say thanks for responding back to my query re: above.
Thanks for the link re: mising drivers, but was unsure on taking that route. You did mentioned that there was a possibility that I might have to uninstall and reinstall the software package.
So, after doing a bit more research, I realised it was more than likely that I only had the basic features installed.
So, I decided to log onto HP website for my printer, and re-installed the complete software package for my HP Deskjet 1512. It took me to the registration form also. I did not uninstall anything beforehand. Whether it only installed the bits I didnt have previously, can't be sure, but I noticed in the Device and Printers section of my computer, it did not create another printer icon etc.
Once the installation process was completed, I could see all features, including the scan option.
I tested the printer by printing a document and scanned a photo which I sent to myself via email. Both worked well.
There seems to be a lot of people out there who's having similar problems with the scanning option. It seems that unless you install the FULL software for this printer, features like scanning won't be available.
So, once again thanks for your swift response. Much appreciated.

Hello @ComputerLady536,
This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that the scanning option isn't available right away. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
Usually, there is an option in the menu for HP Scan from the All Programs list. You can right-click it and create a shortcut on the Desktop. Since you are missing the option you may have to uninstall and reinstall the software for the printer. Here is the link to the latest drivers: DJ1510_188.exe
I have provided a document for the steps for Scanning from the Computer with HP Scan.
Please click the "Thumbs Up" to thank me for my efforts! If this helps you to resolve the issue you are experiencing, please click the "Accept as Solution". Keep me posted. Good Luck!
I work on behalf of HP
