How can I remove the requirement for login and password for using the printer and scanner. I don't have time for this.  This is for home use. so no need for security

followed instructions on https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/we-don-t-have-time-for-users-to-login-to-use-t... and nothing matches.

I searched and searched there's no options to disable.

And also I tried to go on chat support and  I can never get past Submit button on 3 different browsers.

Hi @skytalon

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

To remove the requirement for login and password on your HP printer and scanner, follow these steps:

1. Access the Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Open a web browser on your computer and enter the printer's IP address in the address bar. You can find the IP address by printing a network configuration page from the printer's settings menu.
  • Log in to the EWS using the current admin credentials. If you don't know the password, you may need to reset the printer to factory defaults.

2. Disable Security Features

  • Navigate to the "Security" or "Administration" section in the EWS.
  • Look for options related to user authentication or administrative passwords.
  • Disable or remove the password requirement. If the system requires a new password, try leaving the field blank or setting a simple password.

3. Restore Factory Defaults

  • If you can't disable the password through the EWS, perform a factory reset:
    • Access the printer's settings menu on the control panel.
    • Go to "Printer Maintenance" > "Restore Defaults" > "Factory Reset."
    • This will remove all custom settings, including passwords.

4. Use HP Smart App

  • If you're using the HP Smart app, ensure it's updated to the latest version. The app might allow you to manage security settings directly.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
