Hi @Jory4,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're encountering issues with scanning from your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw printer. Let's troubleshoot this step by step.
- Check Connections: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or over the network, depending on how you're trying to scan.
- Restart Devices: Sometimes a simple restart can fix many issues. Try restarting both your computer and the printer.
- Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can download them from the HP website.
- Check Scanner Settings: Verify that the scanner settings on your printer are configured correctly. You may need to consult the user manual for guidance on this.
- Check Scanner Compatibility: Ensure that the scanning software you're using is compatible with your printer. HP Scan software is often recommended for HP printers.
- Scan from Printer Panel: Try initiating the scan directly from the printer's control panel, if possible, to see if the issue is with the computer or the printer itself.
- Firewall/Antivirus: Sometimes firewall or antivirus software can block scanning functionality. Temporarily disable them and see if the issue persists.
- HP Print and Scan Doctor: Since you've already tried HP Print and Scan Doctor, did it provide any specific error messages? Sometimes it can pinpoint the exact issue.
- Twain Driver: Ensure that the TWAIN driver for your scanner is properly installed and configured. You may need to uninstall and reinstall it.
- .NET Framework: Since you mentioned you have .NET Framework 4.8 installed, it should be compatible. However, you might want to try repairing or reinstalling it to rule out any issues with the installation.
- Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is up-to-date with the latest patches and updates from Microsoft.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the scanning issue with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
