We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Deskjet 3830
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Whenever I try to scan either by pressing the button on the front of the printer, or from my laptop, I get an error message saying unable to communicate with scanner. I've re-booted both printer and scanner and uninstalled and reinstalled software. Someone else told me it's the driver? Any Idea on how to fix?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums. Can you try the following:

Please Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR) tool to diagnose and fix your problem

http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-h-e016-1&h_keyword=dg-PDU

Hope that helps.

This is a continous problem, each time I need to scan I have to restart the computer, the router and the printer, While the printer can scan throuw the browers (192.168.x.x).

That means it is a problem with yours softwate (HP Office Jet) or change it

I tried your guidlines however still the same issue with all computers I have , Scan doctor uis useless

Hi @AlaaWahab,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

We saw that the same post in another similar thread.

Can you try using a TCP/IP port?

Create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port

Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)

Hope that helps!
