@MCHHSI, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Does your user account have a password?

Are you using a public or a private network?

On the PC go to control panel > Network and sharing > Click on Change advanced sharing settings, check if 'Network Discovery' and 'File and printer sharing' are enabled?

Go back to control panel > Programs and features > on the left-hand pane select Turn windows features ON or Off

Ensure the SMB 1.0/SIFS File Sharing Support option is checked

Reboot the PC and try scanning to the network folder again.

Let me know how this goes.

Have you tried using a private network and check if you still get the same error?

Also, assign a static IP address to the printer that may help

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  2. Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  3. If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  4. Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  5. Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  6. Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  7. Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Keep me posted.

Sorry I got confused with your question

My network is private and actually I added the folder using the IP address but still giving me the same error. I am actually creating a SCAN folder to my shared folder so that all comps can access to that folder.

Have you also tried assigning a static IP address to the printer and check if that helps?

You may watch this video for a better understanding on how to setup scan to a network folder.

Also, ensure your user account is password protected, the printer will not be able to connect to a shared folder with a user without a password.

Go to Network and Sharing Center, click on Change Advanced sharing settings and ensure that File and Printer Sharing is checked and enabled.

Try using your Microsoft credentials to login and check if that works.

Keep me posted.
