HP 7525 Photosmart Copier

Have an HP 7525 Photosmart Copier.  Recently changed out the ink cartridges and am now unable to print or copy.  Have tried removing and reinstalling the cartridges, removing and cleaning the printehead through the tools option and manually, removing and reconnecting both the power and USB cables, turned off and restarted the printer and computer.   It seems that every time I replace the ink cartridge(s), especially the black, I'm no longer able to print or copy and have to go through all the above before the system starts working again only now I can't get it back up and working.  When I print a print quality diagnostic it comes out showing everything's ok except it's missing the "black" ink, which is the original ink cartridge I changed out.  Very frustrated, please help if you can.

A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.

I understand that you have an HP Photosmart 7525 e-All-in-One Printer and post replacing the ink cartridges, the printer is not able to print and copy. I read that you have cleaned the printhead manually and also through the printer tools. A quality diagnostic page shows all colors except the black ink. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Do you have the old black cartridge to check with?

Either it is the printhead or the black cartridge which is defective. The printer is unable to print other colors because the black ink is not read by the printer.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

If the issue persists then please review this HP Document. You may skip the steps which you have already performed. Also, please check out for the steps mentioned under "Step 4: Make sure the ink cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly."

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let em know. Cheers! 🙂

MKazi -

THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  for responding to my desperate plea for help for my copying/printing problem.  I 've been working on this for 3 days straight and was just about ready to throw the printer out the window.  I followed your instructions and am now able to copy and print.  Not exactly sure what actually fixed the problem but now I have more info. on the issue for when it happens again, and I'm sure it will (every time I change out the cartridges).  Thanks again.
