Unable to find scan software for MFP M477 fdw

Hello, 

I have just purchased this printer and after running the installer through hp AIO Printer remote and downloading the software, was able to print and fax . Only basic scanner functions are running. I wanted to have the duplex scanning function and ran the hp Print and scan doctor program, it says that HP Scan has not been installed and suggested uninstalling the reinstalling the printer software again. This has not restored the full funtionality and HP Scan is still missing. Some internet searches, led me to try and install the "hp scan extended " software , but the links are not working. The accompanying CD does not have any other software. 

I cannot believe that an expensive printer like this comes with such incomplete software. Please suggest what to do. The websites do not have the full software either.

Try this link for the software:

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Let us know if that works.

thanks for the reply. 

I downloaded the program (the link needs to be cut and pasted in the browser, it does not work directly in Edge) but when I run it , it says HP imaging device not found. 

At the moment, I am running it through Windows Scan program, from the app store, which is a functioning basic scanner. 

My Observations are:

1. 1. Hp is not distributing the complete printer software for this printer, it gives only the basic drivers
2. The accompanying CD , I believe, is configured for windows 7, it says, it is going to install the scanner, and HP experience and an uninstall program, but does not do so, and some comments from the forum, make me think it is because it has not been updated for Windows 10.
3. The printed literature that came with the printer suggests to download sofware from the following : www.hp.com/support/colorljM477MFP , however, this link takes you to another printer the M277, which does not work for the 477. 
4. Now , finally, the extended scan software does not work for this printer. 
5. windows Scan , gives a workaround, but is limited. 

Alltogether, this is shoddy package, for what seems a good printer, someone has stuffed up in HP and nobody is seeming to fix it. 

How does HP sell this  printer for $800 (Aus) and offer such rubbish?

I am posting my own solution to the problem of not finding windows 10 version of full software for the MFP M477 fdw.

After some mails with the company Melwin very kindly posted me this link , which gave the full software for the printer and now the scanning , ocr and extended scanning options work just fine. The link is below
