A. When I use the printer's IP address in Chrome's omnibox, it takes me to the Embedded Web Server. I choose "scan" which then takes me to "Scan to Computer [Webscan]". After those steps, if I choose jpeg, all is well, but there are extra steps to get to PDF format.

If, however, the only thing I change is to choose pdf, then I get a missing PDF file error [after a small bit of scanning noise]:

PDF.js v2.3.164 (build: 12ff2527)
Message: Missing PDF "http://10.0.0.222/eSCL/ScanJobs/1c86878e-bdd2-1f08-be20-80ce62ddbb06/NextDocument".

I will then get a "scan canceled" message.

I would like to be able to scan directly to pdf format, does anyone know how I can do this? Thank you.

B. I have a USB to printer cable, why is it that when I touch "scan" on the printer, I get a "No computer found" message? I'm connected directly to it! Though when I am simply using my computer and choose to print, the USB 4520 comes up as an option?! Is it possible to print from the 4520 without it being connected to the web? Thank you

C. If I have not used the printer in 2 days [or so], when I touch the screen, nothing happens, I have to unplug and replug it to be able to use it. Is there a solution for this? Thank you

Hi @P_pardus

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

A. Kindly follow the steps mentioned in this document to know how to scan in PDF format.

B. On the EWS page of the printer, make sure the web scan is enabled and go to Scan > Scan to computer and check if it is displayed. Now, try scanning from the printer screen.

C. If there is no activity on the printer for more than 2hours, it will automatically turn itself off. This is as per the design. You must press the power button to turn the printer back on. We cannot turn this feature off.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
