I am unable to scan from my scanner to my PC. This used to work flawlessly and only stopped a couple of months ago. When I try to send a scan document to my PC using the scanner control panel, the scanner is able to identify my computer, but after I select it, I immediately get a message on the PC "Scanner communication cannot be established". A few seconds later, the scanner indicates that it cannot connect with the PC. It is on a wireless network. I am able to print with no issues. I have uninstalled all printer/scanner software and reinstalled the latest. I have tried HP Scan Doctor (it gets all the way through with no errors until I press the Test Scan button, at which point it fails with the mentioned error message). I have turned off/on my router, rebooted the scanner and rebooted the PC. i have tried Windows Scan app - it opens up showing the printer and then immediately that disappears and it says "Problem connecting to scanner". HP Scan and Capture allows me to select the scanner but says "Problem communicating with the device." With the HP Printer Assistant, the Scan a Document or Photo gives me the mentioned error message. Under Manage Scan to Computer, it is enabled and it says "You can start a scan from the printer." WIA is running and set to Automatic. At various points over the last few months, I have been able to get it to work with some random variation on all these steps, but the next time I go to use it, it won't work. Right now I have tried every suggestion I could find and still no luck at all. If I turn my printer off while the PC is on, the PC shows the message "Scan to computer is no longer activated."

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:
