Starting this morning, without me using the printer or scanner, I started getting notifications on my laptop that the connection to the scanner has been lost. I tried to scan something and the printer does not connect to the computer that is listed on the printer's display. It tells me to make sure that the printer and computer are on the same network, which they are.
I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it did recognize the printer but it won't fix the connectivity problem with the printer and scanner. During my troubleshooting, while running the Scan and Print Doctor, it wanted me to restart to have the changes take effect and after restart the same problem. I haven't had any software or driver changes. My internet connection is good, I'm connected to the internet on my second computer. I see my computer listed on the "PC to connect to" in the front panel, but it won't connect.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I spoke with an HP technician over the phone and it turned out that my Kaspersky Firewall was blocking my connection. Made exceptions in the firewall for the printer's ip address and viola, all is well now.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Can you try using a TCP/IP port?
Create a TCP IP port
1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
This video resource will show you how to do it:
Create & Use TCP IP port
Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)
Let us know if that works
