I have always scanned directly from the web interface and then clicked on "Scan." Recently, whenever I attempt to scan a document to pdf, either from glass or the ADF, I get a failure. I can still scan to my Google Drive via the Apps interface on the printer’s touch screen, so I know the basic scan feature of the printer is still working. Why can I no longer scan with the “Embedded Web Server?”

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

May be it's disabled. Please go to the web server again and enable web scan.

What is the error you get?

Let me know if this helps.

I have confirmed that Web Services Status shows “Enabled.” Internet connection is “Connected” and Printer connection to HP Connected is “Connected.” Everything looks good on my “Web Services Settings” web page.

When I scan, I first go to the page titled “Scan to Computer” and “Webscan.” Let’s say I put 6 pages in the ADF and click “Start Scan.” As the first pages are pulled through, the “NextDocument” page appears on my computer. Then a few seconds later that page is replaced by a webpage with the words “Scan Cancelled.” This is repeatable as many times as I try. I receive a similar “Scan Cancelled” message if I attempt a single-page scan with the document on the glass.

I should note that I can still successfully scan to email and scan to Google Drive. There is nothing wrong with the document feeder.

The printer’s firmware version is MALBECPP1N001.2135A.00 dated 2021-08-25. It’s not clear when this firmware was installed since my updates are installed automatically. Might the problem I’m seeing relate to this firmware version?

Did the above provide any clues?

Thank you very much.

Can't say much at this point. Disable and enable it back and try again. Is this only happening with PDF?

Re: "Disable and enable it back and try again." Web Services Status is enabled but I do not see a way to disable it from the Web Services Settings page. Can you help?

From the glass (single sheet) I can scan a page to pdf successfully. When I attempt a jpg scan from the glass, the document scan initiates, but following the scan there are no icons, e.g., annotate, download, print, in the upper right of my computer screen.

Again, scan to computer from the document feeder always fails. But if I choose to scan a document from the ADF to email or to my Google Drive, it always works successfully.

To remove Web Services using the embedded web server 1. Open the EWS. 2. Click the Web Services tab, and then click Remove Web Services in the Web Services Settings section. 3. Click Remove Web Services. 4. Click Yes to remove Web Services from your printer.

To open the embedded web server through a network (EWS) -  1. Find out the IP address or hostname of the printer by touching (Wireless) or (Ethernet) or by printing a network configuration page. NOTE: The printer must be on a network and must have an IP address. 2. In a supported web browser on your computer, type the IP address or hostname assigned to the printer. For example, if the IP address is 123.123.123.123, type the following address into the web browser: http://123.123.123.123.

In your #2 you say "Remove Web Services in the Web Services Settings section."

Under "Web Services Settings" I see the following:

HP ePrint (I see the option to turn off.)

- Print Apps (I also see the option to turn off.)

- HP Instant Ink (Enabled)

But there is no option to remove web services. This is true when I access the "Web Services Settings" page on my Chromebook and on my Windows 10 computer.

Am I missing anything? Suggestions?

HP Recommended

You can remove it like this as well: 1. From the top of the screen, touch or swipe down the tab to open the Dashboard, touch ( HP ePrint ), and then touch (Web Services Settings). 2. Touch Remove Web Services.

Your instructions helped somewhat. After toggling web services off and on, I can now initiate a scan from the tray without receiving a failure on my computer screen as the pages progress through the feeder.  Now for the problem. Although the document type selected is pdf, the "save" prompt comes up with the only option to save NextDocument.txt (text file, not pdf). Even though I want a pdf, I get a "fail" when I attempt to save the txt file.

So still unable to scan using Webscan.

Using the touchscreen on the printer I can successfully scan to email and scan to Google Drive.

Good to hear. Where you able to see the "pdf" option before?

Are to able to save as PDF when you scan from the software on the Computer?
