I am unable to scan to computer from my HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 my Mac.

 

Solutions to similar queries I have found online all say to install the full feature software in order to enable the "Scan to Computer" in "Scan Settings". However, when I check on HP support, I am only advised to download the HP Smart app for desktop. Within this app there appears to be no option to enable "Scan to Computer".

Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

Try the solutions below, and then try to add your printer to HP Easy Scan.

  • Update HP Easy Scan: Open HP Easy Scan. On the upper bar, click HP Easy Scan, click Check for Updates, and then install any available updates.

  • Run Apple Software Update: Click the Apple menu , click System Preferences, and then search for and install any available updates.

If the issue persists, continue the troubleshooting-

 

Open the Applications folder in the Finder (if it doesn’t appear in the sidebar, go to the Menu Bar, open the “Go” menu, and select Applications in the list), and search for the HP Easy Scan application by typing its name in the search field, and then drag it to the Trash (in the dock). And then empty the trash.

 

Now, download and install the HP Easy Scan from here

 

Alternatively, try using the HP Smart App to scan. Refer to this document HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Mac) for help.

Thank you for replying. None of the solutions enable scanning directly from the printer. I am able to scan using the HP Smart App but unable to scan using the scan button on the printer which is what I would like to do.
