Dear Team, 
Good day!
I cannot scan using HPSmart App for HP Smart Tank 515 series printer. Its shows this message “

Couldn't Connect to Scanner

HP Smart cannot scan from this printer. Either no scanner was detected or HP Smart is not compatible with the scanner in this printer.”

Kindly tell us the ideas to fix this problem.

1. Basic Troubleshooting Steps

Restart Printer and App: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Similarly, close the HP Smart App on your device and reopen it.

Check Network Connection: Ensure that your printer and the device running HP Smart App are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Network instability can affect scanning capabilities.

Verify Printer Settings: On the printer's control panel, check if the scanner function is enabled and functioning correctly. Make sure there are no error messages on the printer display that could indicate issues.

2. Update HP Smart App and Printer Firmware

Update HP Smart App: Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart App installed on your device. Visit the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) to check for updates.

Update Printer Firmware: Outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues. Check for and install any available firmware updates for your HP Smart Tank 515 printer. You can usually update firmware through the printer's control panel or by visiting the HP Support website.

3. Check Firewall and Security Settings

Firewall Settings: If you have firewall software on your computer or network that restricts outgoing connections, ensure that it is not blocking the HP Smart App from communicating with the printer.

Reset HP Smart App: In the HP Smart App settings or preferences, there may be an option to reset app preferences. This can restore default settings and potentially resolve scanning issues.

I Found an alternative way to scan by using another HP Software called ‘HP Universal Scan’ using this software I can scan documents. But still using HP smart App I cannot scan. However we found another way to scan.
