I see this question has been asked before and the HP Employee didnt understand. 
I just bought a LaserJet M283. When I scan I can set several options, the last is "Compression". I have tried scanning and choosing different settings for compression, but there doesn't seem to be any difference in the resulting files. I checked file sizes (all 23.5MB) and importing files into Photoshop to visually scan the images. 

Is there something wrong with my printer? Do the other scan settings make any difference? Can you direct me to a document that explains all the settings?

 

I want to scan my paintings for the best possible quality reproduction.
