I can no longer print documents from my computer. The first error message on the HP 8600 Plus is "The printer can't connect to the server. Check the internet connection. If required, enter a proxy address; Ensure the proxy details are correct and retry. ..." After I do that, then the next screen asks me to enter the proxy port. I don't know what a proxy port is or where to find it.

Hi @CHS22 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A proxy port is a specific communication endpoint on a server that handles network requests. In the context of your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, it seems that the printer is trying to connect to the internet through a proxy server, and it's asking for the proxy port to establish the connection.
To find the proxy port, you might need to check your computer's network settings. Here's how you can do it on Windows 11:
Open Settings:
- Click on the "Start" button.
- Select the gear-shaped Settings icon.
Go to Network & Internet:
- In the Settings window, click on "Network & Internet."
Proxy Settings:
- In the left sidebar, select "Proxy."
- If a proxy is set up, you will see its details on the right side, including the proxy address and port.
If you don't use a proxy on your computer, or if the printer is not connected through a proxy, you may need to review your printer settings.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Check Printer Settings:
- Access your printer's control panel or web interface (usually by entering the printer's IP address in a web browser).
- Navigate to the network or connection settings and ensure that the printer is set to the correct network.
Check Internet Connection:
- Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer, and the internet connection is stable.
Update Printer Firmware/Drivers:
- Check if there are any firmware or driver updates available for your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. Updating them may resolve compatibility issues.
Reset Network Settings:
- On the printer's control panel, find the network or connectivity settings, and perform a network reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
