My printer/scanner has worked well. We recently moved into a new apartment, and I upgraded my wireless modem with Comcast, and it has a new user name and password.

Today may have been the first time since we moved that I attempted to scan a doc. I get a message, "Cannot find the remote server. Check server name or use IP Address to connect. Check that the remote computer is turned on."

I don't know where to look to enter the new modem login and password.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

Let's restore the settings on the Printer: 1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, swipe until the Setup menu displays. Touch the Setup icon to open the menu. 2. Scroll to and select the Service menu. 3. Scroll to and select Restore Defaults, and then touch OK. The printer automatically restarts.

 

Once done, you can set up the Printer to connect to the new network: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m280-m281-multifunction-printer-series/14...

Are you getting this error while doing scan to network folder?

If yes, setup the scan to folder again using EWS page.
