HP Photosmart Wireless e-All-in-One Printer - B110a
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Dear All

I have a problem when I use my printer to scan:  000 is added to the filename which I have to edit out.  Is there a way to stop this happening?

Thanks

Hi @Len91

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It looks like your HP Photosmart Wireless e-All-in-One Printer - B110a is automatically adding "000" to scanned filenames.

This issue has been discussed in HP’s support community, and there are a few possible solutions:

Check HP Smart or HP Scan Settings

  • Open HP Smart or HP Scan on your computer.
  • Look for File Naming Preferences or Scan Settings.
  • If there’s an option to modify the default filename format, adjust it.

Rename Files Automatically

  • If the printer doesn’t allow filename customization, you can use Windows File Explorer to batch rename scanned files.
  • Select multiple files, right-click, and choose Rename to remove the extra "000".

Update Printer Firmware & Drivers

  • Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause unexpected file naming issues.
  • Download the latest updates for your printer here.

Dear Hawks-Eye

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my question.

When HP stopped supporting Java my printer interface became unavailable so I had to start the scan function by navigating to and clicking on hpiscnapp.exe.

If you could please suggest an alternative solution I would be very grateful.

Kind regards

Hi @Len91

Thanks for all your efforts and patience.

Given this limitation, here are a few alternative solutions you could try:

Use HP Scan Extended

  • HP provides an alternative scanning tool called HP Scan Extended, which may work for your printer.
  • You can download it from HP’s official site and install it to see if it offers better control over file naming.

Check HP Smart Compatibility

  • If HP Smart is compatible with your printer, it might provide a more modern interface for scanning.
  • You can check HP’s support page for your printer model to see if HP Smart is available.

Manually Rename Files Using a Script

  • If the filename issue persists, you could use a simple batch script in Windows to automatically rename scanned files and remove the extra "000".
  • A PowerShell script could scan a folder and rename files based on a predefined pattern.
