Product: Officejet 8740 & 8600
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When printer software was previously installed under Win7, Start/Programs/HP 8600 (for example), would have a drop down in which Scan was listed, could be right clicked and a desktop scanner icon created.

 

However, when the 8600 and 8740 are installed under Win10 there are no such drop downs. I've searched the machine for scan.exe, I've looked under HP in Programs and Programs86 and give up.

 

How/where do I find the .exe files to place a scan icon on the desktop for each?

HP Scan Extended

For Windows:   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Make searchable PDF scans with this free scanning software -   https://www.naps2.com/
