I don't want my scanned documents going through HP's servers!  Why am I suddenly being forced to have an account to continue using a product that I've used for years without having to have an account?  I needed to quickly scan a document for a customer but couldn't because I needed to sign in to HP just to be able to use my scanner and I couldn't find the password I had used.  This makes me want to never purchase another HP product!!!!

"Why?"

The update that requires sign-in to HP Smart was made months ago - if you have only recently updated, that could  explain why you are just now seeing the change.

The mechanics have not changed.  Your private scans are not suddenly being shunted over to HP Servers.

You do not have to create a different account to use your printer.

You do have to sign in using your HP Account to use HP Smart on Windows or Mobile devices.

HP Smart is not mandatory software.

HP Smart is a nice application - you do not have to use it to use your printer or to scan.

Your Full Feature Software / full driver software (includes HP Scan) does not require sign-in.

HP Scan and Capture application does not require sign-in.

Webscan does not require sign-in.
