I've been using HP Smart app on my Windows computer to scan documents for more than a year. Today, it is requiring a login to a cloud service. WTH? Did something change? Can I continue to print and scan to this device without using the cloud service? I don't really want to have my docs going outside my system/network.

Thanks for the suggestion, Rhonda0671; however, I tried what you suggested (uninstalled HP smart and reinstalled it), and it still asks me to login to the cloud when I select scan.
I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978, but I imagine if you have an HP, you will have similar software. To get around the cloud issue, instead of using HP Smart, I am using the HP Printer Assistant, which has similar options to HP Smart. On the Start Menu, click HP. Then on the dropdown menu, select "HP Officejet Pro 6970," or whatever the name of your printer is. The HP Printer Assistant does not require cloud login.
