I've used HP printers for 20 years. The last one I bought is an HP smart 7600 and I can't believe that we have been going backward. Scan to PC is no longer offered (! Seriously), scan to Network has been impossible to set up even after I spoke with some helpdesk for an hour; and scans to emails whether it is Hotmail or **bleep** with double verification is just not working. I had hotmail working for a few months; that functionality just stopped working and regardless of all my efforts, I cannot simply find how to set these up. I have now fallen back to using HP smart app as the printer controller instead of the printer screen (the screen is not there anymore...), or back to using a USB flash memory.
It is ridiculously complicated to navigate between HP's multiple softwares and the lack of simply step by step installation of the most common email (hotmail and **bleep**) is a scandal. I think that once my ink tank is over, I am switching away from HP for good.

I do not work for HP and am not here to offer any apologies or excuses on their behalf. I deal with various brands of printers on a day to day basis and they all have their quirks. My next best advice would be to look at brother devices.

The scan to email issue is as much the fault of mail providers as HP. They have taken the stance that they need to protect people from hackers so have enhanced security, negating many of the methods previously used for scan to folder. Current printers do not support 0Auth. If your laptop is Windows 11 can understand the issues with scan to folder as the push to use Microsoft user accounts as the computer login can result in unclear user names. Typically if I setup a system for a customer I will create a unique user on their system to authenticate when scanning.
This HP video shows how to setup a shared folder windows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT13_cNZKnw
While this video is for a different model, the interface may be similar enough to be useful.

I understand, but dtill cà’ot accept excuses. We are taking about HP, Google and Microsoft most routine type of application.
Why then did they phased out the ‘scan to PC’ that I had on all my previous printers and 2 of my current ones? That worked pretty well and did not interact with 3rd party email security .
The engineers who build these printers seem not to use them themselves. The softwares are underwhelming and not improving over the years.
I am done. I MUST try some other brand. Life’s too short.

I appreciate your support and I will take your advice to another brand. In the meantime, I will either use the HP Smart app from which I can scan a document and share, or a USB drive. Thanks again for your support.
