Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I just bought a basic scanner hoping it would be an easier experience than canon.

Have to set up an account just to use the scan feature? What a bunch of jerks HP turned out to be

@justannoyed, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Yes, you have to create an HP account to use the HP Smart app to print and scan. It is a one-time setup.

 

This app can be installed on Win 10 or mobile devices. If you are using Win XP, it is not supported.
