Why was I directed to "Just Ask" for a problem with my scanner?  Cost me $66 for a wasted hour and a half when I should have been able to talk to a person from HP.

Welcome to the HP English Community --

HP Support does not use Community "Tags"

Your computer is not full of bugs.

"Why?"

From your description, I am guessing you were never anywhere near an HP site.

?

That said, I'm located very far away from your region and cannot speak for resources in your area.

Assuming you did not let the rascals into your computer, the lost money, lost time, and lost personal information are perhaps the only consequences.

Online Case Submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.

Some (Most) regions display phone / chat contact information only after the case is submitted online.

Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.

HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are usually not accepted.

If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.

Hi Dragon-fur,

Thanks for your response.  I was directed to "Just answer" by the HP site in Australia.  That's one thing I checked first.  The person I interacted with had no ability to access my computer, just answer questions - like a 'bot'.  Not happy that you can't access anyone from HP for a query but you have been most helpful.  Thank you.

@Cheran72

You are welcome.

There are a few miles of Ocean between us --

I don't even know if there is such a thing here in the States (never checked).

I am sorry the Just Ask people did not help.

You can certainly try here at the Community.

We are not -- as yet -- turned into 'bots.

Smiling.

Out of Warranty?  What to do...

For those of us who are "Out of Warranty", submitting a Warranty repair request to HP Support is not an option.

Open your device HP Product Home > Select Category Troubleshooting to find help for common issues.

HP Support does not generally provide free service for out-of-warranty devices.

Our HP Community is not HP Support; we do offer online help free of charge.

Reminder – New Post – Post New Question

When you submit your question to the Community,

Increase your chances of receiving an answer ---

For example,

  • Provide the model of the device  Product Home and the Operating System / version

  • Do NOT include the serial number -- What?  We cannot make use of the information and you should never post private information in a public forum.
  • As best you can, describe the issue for which you are seeking our help.
  • Tell us what you have tried to fix the problem.
