Let’s walk through what’s happening and how to resolve it.

 

Why the Error Appears

The message:
“The selected resize option can only be used when copying from the scanner glass. Job canceled.”
means that the printer is interpreting your action as a copy job, not a print job—and the resize feature you selected is only valid when copying from the flatbed scanner, not when feeding paper or printing from a device.

This typically happens when:

  • The resize setting is applied in the copy menu instead of the print menu.
  • You’re using the document feeder or trying to print a file while the printer is still in copy mode.
  • The job is being sent from the printer’s control panel rather than from the HP App or your computer.

 

How to Fix It

1. Switch to Print Mode

  • Make sure you’re sending the job from your computer or the HP App—not from the printer’s copy menu.
  • Open the document on your device and use the Print command.

Resize options for printing are handled differently than for copying.

 

2. Avoid Resize Settings in Copy Mode

  • If you’re using the printer’s control panel:
    • Tap Copy > Settings.
    • Set Resize to Actual Size or Fit to Page only if using the scanner glass.
    • If feeding paper manually, avoid using resize options—this triggers the error.

 

3. Use the HP App for Printing

  • Open the HP App on your Windows PC or mobile device.
  • Select your printer > Print Documents or Photos.
  • Choose your file and print without applying resize settings meant for copying.

4. Restart the Printer

  • Power off the printer completely.
  • Wait 30 seconds and turn it back on.
  • This clears any stuck copy settings that may interfere with print jobs.
