OfficeJet Pro 9010
Microsoft Windows XP

Hello. I have just purchased the Pro 9010 (I love it) but I cannot scan from my printer to my computer (although i can scan from my computer to my printer).  I keep getting the following error message (and the hp scan doctor does not find any problems):  "The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues: -connection to the computer is lost, -the scan application on the computer is currently in use, -OCR application is not installed on the computer"

Is there a way to fix this problem?

Thank you, Peter

Hi,

what is your operating system? you mention Windows XP on your post, while the printer is not supported on Windows XP at all, but only supported on Windows 7 or later Windows PCs.

Hi Shlomil,

I am running Windows 10 with a HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 and while I can scan from the desktop using HP Smart we are unable to scan from the 9010 using the printers touch screen.

It comes up with the error message:

One or more of the following problems has prevented the scan from being completed:

The connection to the computer has been lost

The scan application on the computer is currently in use

An OCR application is not installed on the computer

The scan feature might have been disabled.

Thanks for clarifying Peter.

Please run HP Easy Start and follow the steps on screen, be sure to select the HP Basic Driver or Full Feature Software and Driver and complete the installation:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/HPEasyStart_10_5_4216_12.exe

Once completing the installation launch the HP Officejet Pro 9010 icon on your desktop and select Scan, then click on Manage Scan to Computer and make sure the feature is enabled.

Please let me know of any problem,

Shlomi

Thank you, it was a convoluted process but we got there.

I down loaded the full download and it got the scanner working from scanner to computer - having used it - it is actually easier to do it from the scanner icon - not HP Smart.

In HP Smart you click on SCAN and when you go to that section and there is no Manage Scan to Computer?

I then tried the HP 9010 scanner ico - but again there was no Manage to scan to computor.

The other issue I had was during the set up it came to the section to register your device.

I put in OfficePro 9010 and click on search - nothing happened.

I then typed in the Photo A646 (which was shown as an example) and that also did not come up.

This would not allow you to progress any further and when you went to exit it said that the set up was not completed.

I restarted it and again I had the same issues...so I do not think the set up is fully completed.

Having said that - we can print, we can scan and we can print wireless from other devices.

Thank you, Peter
