@Laurie456,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Since you recently updated your hard drive and installed Windows 11, it's likely that the HP scanning software or drivers need to be reinstalled. Try the following steps to fix the issue.

Reinstall HP Smart & Full Drivers

Uninstall Old Drivers & Software

  • Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and hit Enter.
  • Locate HP Smart and any HP printer software, right-click, and Uninstall.

Download & Install the Latest HP Drivers

  • Go to HP's official website.
  • Enter HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e and download the Full Feature Software and Drivers.
  • Install the software and restart your computer.

Reconfigure the Scanner

Check Windows Scan Settings

  • Press Windows + S and type Printers & scanners, then select your printer.
  • Ensure that Let Windows manage my default printer is turned off.
  • Click Manage > Scanner > Open Scanner and check if scanning works.

Use HP Scan and Capture

  • Download HP Scan and Capture from the Microsoft Store.
  • Open it and try scanning to see if it detects the scanner.

Enable Windows Scan Service

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
  3. Ensure it is Running and set to Automatic.

Try Scanning via USB Instead of Network

  • If using Wi-Fi, connect the printer via USB and try scanning.
  • If scanning works over USB, reset the network settings on the printer and reconnect it to Wi-Fi.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
