Hi There,

I have been using this printer via wireless and its been fine. The function I use most is "Scan to Network Folder".

I now wish to connect the PC directly via ethernet cable to my printer. I now cant get the Scan to network folder function to work. I have disabled my firewall, rest my PC, reset the printer, Delected the scanned folder setup.. but I keep on getting the same error message: "Error. Your printer cannot connect the server. Press "Edit" to correct the server name and address"

What does this mean?

Ethernet cable is used to connect the printer to a router, that in turn, provides your home network environment.

Your PC is not a router.

The User Guide explains the available connection setups.  (Start on page 31)

Section Connect the product to a network explains how to connect the printer to a wired network, that is, a network connected via Ethernet.  See page 33.

Scan to network folder requires that the device on the network provide a shared folder that can be accessed by the printer.   It may be necessary (when you map the network device to your PC) that you provide the network device login ID and the password to the account on that device.

"network device" might be a NAS or another computer that is located (and accessible) on your network.

Some general information is provided on the subject:

Scan to Specified Folder

Section(s):

  • Preparation
  • Scan to Network Folder
  • Scan to Selected Local Folder Location > subsection Optional > Advanced Settings (assign base name)
