Periodically, my printer loses its connection to my network and I am unable to scan to a network folder. The solutions I've found pertain to printers connected wirelessly, however my printer is connected via ethernet and I haven't found relevant solutions. I've downloaded and run the "Print and Scan Doctor" and was able to scan and save my document, but am still "unable to connect" when trying to scan from the printer's panel. I've rebooted my computer and printer to no avail. Please help.

Does your user account have a password?
Are you using a public or a private network?
On the PC go to control panel > Network and sharing > Click on Change advanced sharing settings, check if 'Network Discovery' and 'File and printer sharing' are enabled?
Go back to control panel > Programs and features > on the left-hand pane select Turn windows features ON or Off
Ensure the SMB 1.0/SIFS File Sharing Support option is checked
Reboot the PC and try scanning to the network folder again.
Keep me posted.

@ericbro, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Make sure the connections are proper
Refer to step 1 and 2 from this document.
Make sure you have the HP Full-featured driver installed on the PC
Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.
Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
Enable Scan to computer option on the HP Printer assistant
Open the printer software, go to scan > manage scan to computer > enable.
Try scanning.
Let me know how this goes.

Thank you for the suggestions. I did as you suggested and set up my printer (again). I then went to the printer software and went through the Scan to network folder wizard. When I tried to test my connection, I got the error below.
I attempted "Edit" but got the same result.

Thank you. That worked. All my settings were as you suggested they should be, except under SMB 1.0/SIFS File Sharing Support, the third check-box (SMB 1.0/CIFS Server) was not checked. I checked it, and it now works. I hope it stays that way.
Thanks.
