I am trying to get rid of my landline. Can i fax using my office jet pro 9015 to fax without being connected to a phone line?

Yes, you can send faxes using HP mobile fax app without being connected to a phone line.

But you can't receive faxes without phone line.

There are two - actually three - answers to the question.

1)  No, the printer cannot send or receive faxes without the phone line.

2)  You can sign up for and use HP Mobile Fax -- the longest running "Trial" software in history.  Mobile Fax can send faxes - no printer fax hardware needed.  At this writing, HP Mobile Fax cannot receive faxes -- for that, you'd need a fax machine or a full-fledged "e-Fax" service.

3)  Mentioned in #2 -- there are "e-Fax" services out there - subscriptions and likely some free stuff, too.  I'd stay away from the free stuff.  What?  Privacy is generally an issue when faxing -- You do want some assurance that the service is following the laws to protect your information and that they are keeping their fingers off your stuff.

Can I receive a fax without a fax machine?

No, HP Mobile Fax only supports sending to other fax machines. To receive faxes from another party, you would need to also have a fax machine.
